Mazda RX-8 GT – A Valid Replacement of the RX-7
Once a favourite for many Mazda fans; the used Mazda RX-7 was a vehicle that provided lots of good memories. But, as with anything old, it eventually needs to be replaced with something new, and in the case of the RX-7 it was the RX-8 that took its place. And boy was it a readymade replacement! Visually beautiful and combining numerous features, this is a Mazda that really does deliver what it should. Comfortable, stylish and charismatic, the introduction of the RX-8 provided Mazda enthusiasts with something out of the ordinary and something that hadn’t previously been seen in the world of automotive. Bu given that the Rx-7 provided such a good all round driving experience, was the RX-8 really that much of a worthy successor? Well the answer will inevitably cause split opinions but I would hazard a guess that it would be a majority vote in favour of the newer vehicle. And I come to this conclusion due to the fact that the RX-8 has been styled with a real purpose to be different. The cars’ “suicide” doors are distinct and open in a way that really does provide a sense of something unique. And it is because of features like this that the car stands out from the pack and is what makes it a real head turner. So it seems that the Japanese manufacturer that is Mazda certainly got it right when making the decision to replace the aging used RX-7, which is something that not all manufacturers can say when replacing a previously successful model.
