MINI – Updating the Style of a Legend

When BMW first laid out plans to re-establish and effectively re-invent the iconic used Mini of the 1960’s and 1970’s it is fair to say that it drew its fair share of attention. Ever since then the new style of MINI’s have become so popular that they are now among the most prominent cars on the nations’ road. Nonetheless, BMW and MINI are not resting on their laurels and so fans will be delighted to hear that there are a number of new styled MINI models being introduced in the very near future. And the beauty of these vehicles is that they will all operate at less than 100g/km of Co2 emissions thanks to the new 1.6 litre engine that is being introduced (this will subsequently mean that the unit will be exempt from road tax). This is the same engine that is currently used in the BMW 116d car and will be available in two different types; the “MINI One D” offering 89 BHP and the “MINI Cooper D” offering slightly more with 110 BHP. And it is this Cooper D version of the new style that offers a brilliant top speed of 122 miles per hour as well as a 0 to 62 mph time of 9.7 seconds. It is fair to say that enthusiasts of the brand will be in for a nice present when these new version are released, which is expected to be in the not too distant future. And if, as expected, these new models continue to do the original set of used Mini cars proud, then no doubt there will be even more rewards in store for the engineers over at BMW; a true and special German automobile manufacturer.

Mazda RX-8 GT – A Valid Replacement of the RX-7

Once a favourite for many Mazda fans; the used Mazda RX-7 was a vehicle that provided lots of good memories. But, as with anything old, it eventually needs to be replaced with something new, and in the case of the RX-7 it was the RX-8 that took its place. And boy was it a readymade replacement! Visually beautiful and combining numerous features, this is a Mazda that really does deliver what it should. Comfortable, stylish and charismatic, the introduction of the RX-8 provided Mazda enthusiasts with something out of the ordinary and something that hadn’t previously been seen in the world of automotive. Bu given that the Rx-7 provided such a good all round driving experience, was the RX-8 really that much of a worthy successor? Well the answer will inevitably cause split opinions but I would hazard a guess that it would be a majority vote in favour of the newer vehicle. And I come to this conclusion due to the fact that the RX-8 has been styled with a real purpose to be different. The cars’ “suicide” doors are distinct and open in a way that really does provide a sense of something unique. And it is because of features like this that the car stands out from the pack and is what makes it a real head turner. So it seems that the Japanese manufacturer that is Mazda certainly got it right when making the decision to replace the aging used RX-7, which is something that not all manufacturers can say when replacing a previously successful model.

Mercedes-Benz CLS – The Latest Benz to be Updated

This is a car that has been extremely well thought of since 2003 when Mercedes first introduced the CLS category in the Mercedes-Benz range. It was a vehicle that was supposed to capture the elegant style of a Coupe with the efficiency and comfort of a Saloon; and it certainly managed to deliver just that. Since then it has become a firm fans’ favourite and has been credited with providing the foundation for other manufacturers to manufacture similar combinations. The new mode, however, represents numerous upgrades to both the design and functionality of the car, which also incorporates a number of additional and improved features when compared to the previous used Mercedes-Benz CLS. What this represents is the evolution of a vehicle that has served the public so well and will no doubt continue to do so in the immediate and long term future. In terms of the standout areas of improvement, those with a shrewd eye for change will notice that the front end design has been update rather drastically and resembles the design of the SLS ALG model (a sporty bonnet that is long in length). This distinctive new front design also incorporates around 70 LED headlamps that really do add a very distinctive element to the overall style of the car and add a real uniqueness to what is a very standout auto. And the great thing about all of this is that Mercedes enthusiasts will not have to wait too long for this new version of the CLS to be released as it will be arriving quite soon. Reports claim that the beginning of 2011 is when the market will likely see the first batch rolled out and so here’s hoping to no delays!

Maserati GranTurismo MC – The Fastest Model in the Range

The GranTurismo model from Maserati is a car that has become extremely famous over the years; in part thanks to the computer console game that has been in circulation for such a long period of time. And so it seems that Maserati have taken things one step further for the GranTurismo model and created the MC Stradale version, which is said to be the most powerful and lightest vehicle in the entire Maserati range. The reason for this might just be the cars’ ability to pump out a whopping 450 BHP through its lightening quick 4.7 litre V8 engine; and the driving experience is also mighty impressive; mainly due to the fact of its excellent handling qualities. Buyers will have to wait until next year to get a taste of this though but for the speed demons among us – this is one Maserati car that will certainly provide a good fix! The main highlight of the vehicle is that it will be able to break through the 300 km/h mark and achieve 0 to 60 miles per hour in less than five seconds. These statistics alone will certainly send shivers down the spines of Maserati’s rival manufacturers! The other main focus, as noted above, is the cars ability handle, which Maserati have described as being “razor sharp”. So it seems that all of the ingredients are there for this to be a truly amazing vehicle and who would bet against it going on to become a true great of the automotive history. With its looks (exterior and interior), speed, power and handling abilities; everything is already in place to provide the foundation for this auto to succeed.

Lotus Elite – The All New Model from Lotus Cars

With a solid reputation for speed and extreme handling, Lotus has long been established as one of the best manufacturers for bringing the experience of the racetrack to the open road. The Elise has always been the model that has led the charge for the company and quite rightly so as it is a vehicle of true class. However, the used Lotus Elite is also highly regarded and so fans of the brand will be delighted to hear that there is a brand new version of the model being introduced. And I think you will all agree that from an initial visual point of view, the all new Elite are something truly spectacular. Visually this is a car that is right up there with the very best of them in the industry and is definitely something out of the ordinary in the looks department. A super sports car is definitely what it is and it gives off a very futuristic look and feel. And with its 612 BHP V8 engine (5.0 litres), power is a guarantee. And thanks to this engine the car is able to deliver a 0 to 62 mph in an impressive 3.5 seconds whilst only producing 215 g/km of Co2 emissions. However, the only unfortunate issue surrounding the vehicle is that it will not be made available for purchase for another 3 or 4 years with a 2014 release date being expected. But by god will this unit be worth the wait and it is expected that the new Lotus Elite will catapult the Lotus brand to new levels of popularity.

A Used Bentley Arnage Anyone?

Produced in Crewe, a small city in England, UK; the Bentley Arnage can be described as being a rather large car of luxury. Of course the word “luxury” comes with every car from this company, be it a new unit or a used Bentley from years gone by. In fact, Bentley is probably the most luxurious of all car brands – even if the likes of Rolls-Royce and Ferrari might wish to counter that statement! Even though the Arnage is no longer being produced (production ended in the year 2009), there are still many buyers trying to locate a unit via the used Bentley market in the hope that someone is willing to part with their asset. However, given the history of the vehicle, finding a used Bentley Arnage is no easy feat and much research will need to be conducted. In terms of specification, the Arnage, as noted above, is quite a large luxury vehicle as it is over five metres in length and nearly two metres in width. So from these statistics we can see just how much big the outer shell is and from an external point of view – the used Bentley Arnage looks like it has a bit of Rolls-Royce influenced in its design. Of course this is actually an accurate portrayal given that the Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph is the sibling of the Arnage. In summary, if you are a collector of luxury cars and want to add something special to your collection, this is one used Bentley auto that may well tick all the boxes. It may well cost more than a few months’ worth of pay packets, but for a car like this – it is well worth it. Do remember though that it is a rather large vehicle to extra storage space may well be required!

The Simply Stunning Audi R8

Throughout the history of the automotive industry there have been a number of sports cars that have just stood out from the rest. Think of the Lamborghini Diablo, the Ferrari Testarossa, and the Jaguar XJ220 etc. These are cars, which have become huge candidates for the title of the “best ever sports car” and have also been at the forefront of conversation for many car enthusiasts. Well it is time to add another vehicle to that list but this time it comes from an unlikely source, Audi, in the form of the superb Audi R8. Simply put, the R8 is astonishing and comes with an equally astonishing price tag! It appears to be a cross between a TT and an RS4 –but with a swagger that can only be found in the types of cars listed above (Lamborghini, Ferrari and Jaguar etc). With V8 and V10 engines available, the R8 is very much a step up from a regular new or used Audi vehicle. Initially though, a 4.2 litre engine was included until the upgrade took place. The vehicle uses Audi’s Quattro system (manufacturing of the unit actually took place at Audi’s Quattro GmbH subsidiary company) and comes with a longitudinal mounted mid-engine. Of the cars in the current market, even those in the new / used Audi markets, the R8 is by far the stand out candidate in the industry for overall road performance. As noted above, the only negative that comes with the Audi R8 is the price tag (starting from around £82,500) and by the time the required extra features are added, this could well reach the £100,000 mark. Therefore a used Audi R8 might be a more feasible option to those that want to purchase the car – but cannot afford the RRP of a new version. Even so, it seems as though deep pockets will also be required in this situation! Nonetheless, this is one used Audi that would be a worthwhile investment!

James Bond’s Favourite – The Aston Martin DB5

When the world’s favourite spy speaks, many listen, and at the same time, we take note of the cars that he drives. Of course I am talking about the one and only 007, James Bond, and his fetish for the desirable used Aston Martin DB5, which has been the choice of vehicle for many James Bond movies. From “Goldfinger” to “Thunderball” to “Golden Eye”, “Tomorrow Never Dies” and “Casino Royale”, the DB5 has been ever present for the cool and selected 007 agent. In reality, the DB5 is an improved version of the older used Aston Martin DB4 from the year 1963 with differences ranging from an improved engine (an increase from 3.7 litres to 4 litres), new transmission, and the addition of three SU carburettors. It is no wonder that film producers indentified this car to be used and given a leading role in such Hollywood hits as James Bond, given the fact that it represents luxury of the highest order. For example, standard equipment in the DB5 includes pile carpets and reclining seats; it even includes a portable fire extinguisher! A two door sports car, this Aston Martin is one of the foundation vehicles of the company and offers a comfort of drive that is unmatched. If it is good enough for our favourite UK spy then it is surely good enough for the rest of the country as well. There are a number of different versions available of the car such as the Vantage and Convertible variants; both offering slight differences and upgrades to the standard spec models. However, the car is by no means the fastest of those in the new and used Aston Martin range – even if its statistics are far from average. Using the standard model, acceleration from 0 to 60 mph is achieved in 7.1 seconds and its top speed is pegged at 145 mph.

A Monster on Wheels – The BMW X6

The most recent addition to the BMW line-up (at the time of writing) is the X6, which looks like an exercised and bulked up X5. Over the years BMW has tried to compete with the likes of Land Rover for the title of “king of the 4×4’s” and many would say that they have done quite well; matching but not surpassing the likes of the Range Rover Sport (with the X3 / X5 models). However, with the introduction of the new BMW X6, it appears as though BMW may now be well on the way to taking over the 4×4 market segment as it is a vehicle, which oozes with style and is very different in design to most other 4×4 units. The official class that the X6 has been allocated to is the “Mid-Size Luxury Crossover”, but for marketing purposes, it was advertised as a “Sports Activity Coupe”, which is probably a more accurate description. The thing is, this is no ordinary BMW; it is not a used BMW X5 and it is certainly not an M3 sports car – it is a mixture of the two. Too describe the vehicle would be to use terms such as bold, bulky and sturdy; but really, it is so much more. As things stand new BMW X6 sales are increasing in numbers and so to those that want to own a new piece of eventual history, this would make for an ideal purchase. What the introduction of this vehicle has done though, is free up some space for the sale of the used BMW X5, which has now seen its price reduced. Of course this is quite regularly the case whenever a manufacturer deploys a new addition to the range, but looking at things from the outside, it seems that there are a few bargains out there for used BMW X5 units; ideal for those of you that love to get an excellent deal on used cars!

In the end we pay for this car, probably quite a few, so we have to be honest id information of those who used Ferrari. And their responsibility to provide us with this information. If any of the information given by them is untrue, or simply on the car, we have the right to withdraw from the contract.
